Picturing Writing:
Integrated Curriculum Research Based Story Workshop

This two- or three-day workshop presents teachers with a dynamic model for integrating Picturing Writing into the social studies or science curriculum. Using simple crayon resist based art processes and working with themes of either Ocean or Animals in Their Habitat, teachers will create their own research-based stories. The key elements of story (setting, character development, plot development and use of descriptive language) as well as research and research writing will become the focus for developing research-based stories.

The Integrated Curriculum Model is an ideal way to integrate art into the language arts, science and social studies curriculum. This workshop provides an excellent follow-up to the Picturing Writing: Fostering Literacy Through Art Introductory Workshop.
