Image-Making:
Integrated Curriculum Story Model
Workshop

This two- or three-day workshop is designed to provide teachers with an experiential understanding of how to facilitate the creation of research-based collage stories that are integrated into the curriculum.

Teachers will come with a social studies or science theme in mind and supporting resources. As teachers create their own portfolios of hand-painted textured papers, develop a research-based story-line, and construct collage stories, they will experience the dynamic visual and kinesthetic thinking that occurs throughout this process.

Key literary elements such as sense of setting, beginning, middle, end, and problem and solution will be addressed. Specific techniques used to draw rich language from collage images will be presented. Classroom mini-lessons, modeling practices, and management tips will be woven throughout the training.
